The Golden State Warriors are one of the best teams in the NBA but a common misconception about them is that Stephen Curry carries them all the time.

In fact, the truth is that the Warriors’ crew has gotten a lot stronger over the last few seasons when people weren’t looking.

One of those strong points is Jonathan Kuminga, the forward who was selected seventh overall in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Someone who has noticed the incredible rise of Kuminga is Jayson Tatum.

The Boston Celtics star praised the rookie Saturday night as the Warriors went head-to-head with the Milwaukee Bucks.

On Twitter, Tatum put it simply, saying “Kuminga gone be very good for a long time.”

After this year, there should be very little doubt about that.

The Rise Of Kuminga

Kuminga has been averaging 9.1 points and 3.2 rebounds during this first year in the league.

And he’s doing this with 51% from the floor.

Saturday night saw Kuminga put up 14 points and 11 rebounds, his second double-double of the season.

When the year began, Kuminga was only playing an average of seven minutes a game but that has changed a lot as he has continued to prove his worth.

Now Kuminga is playing for an average of 25 minutes a night.

He has become an important part of the team’s defense and offense as well, with his enthusiastic play style and his smothering defensive skills.

As the Warriors get closer and closer to the postseason and attempt to go all the way to the NBA Finals, Kuminga will be a vital aspect of the team’s plan.

The team will be smart to use him a lot because Tatum is right: Kuminga is something special.
