The drama for the Green Bay Packers seems to be a lingering theme for the team.

Last year it was about the rumors of an Aaron Rodgers trade by the Packers.

This year started with a story of Rodgers signing a mega-deal with the Pack.

However, Rodgers would later debunk that deal but confirm his return to Green Bay.

That is now all in jeopardy as receiver Davante Adams is reportedly holding out for a long-term deal with the Pack.

Jeopardy!: The Newest Game Show For The Packers

Since Rodgers guest hosted the popular TV game show Jeopardy! in 2021, it has become the Packers’ theme and show.

The Packers went through most of the 2021 offseason not knowing what Rodgers would do.

Then he came out to air his grievances with the team.

In 2022, the Packers might not have Adams unless they make a long-term deal with Rodgers’ favorite target.

The Pack put the franchise tag on Adams to prevent him from hitting the free agency market.

That has brought the team some time to make a long-term deal with Adams.

But time is running short for the Packers, as the team has very little wiggle room with cap space.

Rodgers will need to rework his contract so the Packers can free up money for Adams.

However, the Packers have released tackle Billy Turner to free up cap space in the meantime.

While the move might give the Pack room to work with Adams, it looks to hurt Rodgers when protecting him.

Green Bay Needs Adams If They Want To Keep Rodgers

Adams was most likely the most significant reason Rodgers won last year’s NFL MVP.

He accounted for 37.7 percent of Rodgers’s passing yards and 29.7 percent of his touchdowns.

Adams also accounted for slightly over one-third of Rodgers’ completed passes.

It is clear that Adams is Rodgers’ favorite target and should be a priority for the Packers to keep.

Rodgers might think about going somewhere else without a receiver like Adams on the field.

That can become a reality if Adams doesn’t play and Rodgers’ numbers suffer from his absence.

Rodgers can also see a botched Adams deal as another sign that Green Bay can’t keep the talent that he thinks should be in Green Bay.

The Rodgers Rate: How Greed Prevents The Pack From Keeping Needed Players

Rodgers is making solid money at quarterback and is cashing in with the game show and commercial appearances.

He is also one of the top paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

When Rodgers aired his issues with Green Bay, he talked about players the team didn’t keep.

However, Rodgers could have done something to help the Pack keep those players.

The team has been struggling to stay under the cap, something a restructured contract with Rodgers would help prevent.

However, Rodgers has not gone the Tom Brady way of taking a pay cut to keep or acquire top-tier talent.

A change will be needed by Rodgers if he wants Green Bay to keep players like Adams around.
