Since the Miami Dolphins fired Brian Flores after the end of the NFL regular season, there has been controversy about his being fired.
While Flores has been hired as the senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers, three teams in the NFL had head coach vacancies that should have hired Flores as their head coach.
3. Chicago Bears
By firing Matt Nagy after the end of the NFL season, the Chicago Bears showed that they won’t tolerate having a coach that can’t lead the Bears to the playoffs every year.

The reason for the Bears’ owner’s mindset is due to the incredible talent on the Bears roster on both sides of the ball.
In Nagy’s first season with the Bears, he took the team to the playoffs, where the Bears won their first NFC North title since 2010.
The Bears have great defensive talents, with Akiem Hicks, Roquan Smith, and Eddie Jackson being the most prominent defensive stars for the team.
With Flores’s past defensive coaching experience, he could have helped give the Bears defensive players the boost they needed like he was able to do with the Dolphins defense during the 2020-21 NFL seasons.
2. Denver Broncos
With the Denver Broncos scoring Russell Wilson in one of the biggest quarterback trades during the NFL offseason, Flores would have been the perfect fit here.
The Broncos are usually known for their defense since offensive stars like John Elway and Peyton Manning, who have taken the Broncos to multiple Super Bowls, have retired from the NFL.
While the Broncos gave up a lot for Wilson, his move to Denver might help get back Von Miller, who the Broncos traded to the Los Angeles Rams last season.
Miller has also teased a comeback to Denver on his social media accounts since he will be a free agent this year, and Denver seems interested in re-acquiring the all-star linebacker.

If they hired him, Flores would have been set with a proven quarterback and great defense in Denver.
1. New Orleans Saints
With Sean Payton retiring from coaching, the New Orleans Saints would have been a perfect fit for Flores.
While quarterback Jameis Winston is set to be a free agent, he did well in the games he played for the Saints, before suffering a season-ending injury against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season.
Flores would have been the best coach for the Saints, who already have a defensive that is one of the best in the NFL along with a group of talented players on offense.
Flores was able to turn a Dolphins team, that were giving away all their best players and expected to finished 0-16, into a 5-11 team his first season with the team.
With a group of talented players on both offense and defense, Flores would have turned the Saints back into yearly playoff contenders.
